The Lismore Gem and Lapidary Club has been apart of the Lismore Community for nearly 60 year’s, supporting the Northern Rivers in the art of Lapidary, Mineral and Gem identification and collecting.
The Lismore Gem & Lapidary Club was founded in 1964 making it one of the older clubs in NSW. It is an incorporated non-profit organisation and an affiliate of the Gem and Lapidary Council of New South Wales. The Club currently has 200+ members,
We are a group of like minded people. who like all things rocks, gems, minerals, fossils, we conduct monthly field trips to fossick and prospect within the Northern Rivers. From the early start the club has been located at the Lismore Showgrounds where we are still today.
Our Club workshop is open 3 days a week, we offer in house teaching of jewellery making, silversmithing, castings, cabbing, faceting,
Tuesday 2pm to 9pm , Thursdays 9am to 1pm, Saturdays 9am to 4pm,
1st Saturday 11am to 1pm /Junior Rockhounds from 1pm
We provide club rooms for members to do jewellery making, silversmithing, castings, cabbing, faceting, and fossicking, as well as provide well equipped lapidary and workshops for the teaching of our skills to new members. we offer Monthly Field Trips from a day trip to a long weekend away, we aslso offer a Junior Rockhounds Club
If you are interested in learning how to cut and polish rocks, facet gemstones, make silver jewellery, cast silver items, identify rocks & minerals or participate in fossicking field trips then you should consider becoming a member of the club.
Once a month in our Club House, the Lismore Gem & Lapidary Club holds its Junior Rockhounds Workshop, these workshops are tailed to the junior members of the club; 1st Saturday of the Month 1.00pm tp 4pm
Children under 16 must be supervised
The weekend after Mothers Day since 1990 The Lismore Gem & Lapidary Club has play’s host to the Annual LISMORE GEMFEST.
Held at the Lismore Showground, this Major Event on the lapidary calendar attracts over 140 stallholders from around Australia, making it Australia’s Largest Gemshow.
As well as a Major Fundraiser for the club, Lismore Gemfest offers the opportunity for club members to display and sell items made within the club and showcase there skills within the associated art’s of Lapidary
